Born and raised in the center of Illinois, JJ finally got sick of cornfields. At 19, she decided to venture an entire 90 MILES southwest to the Great City of Saint Louis, MO! It may have seemed risky for everyone around her, but success! She remains there to this day! Listen, sometimes a lady has to take a chance.
After exploring almost every option available at the local community college, JJ landed on a creative path that was bound to lead her to all the Fame and Fortune (still waiting to see if that pans out). After finishing her degree in photography through Webster University, JJ landed at a local photography studio, where her degree was put to shame with the immediate knowledge and life lessons she quickly picked up. Alas, the degree is nice but all she learned about the business of photography was actually being in the business of photography. Who knew?
As living and learning goes, JJ decided to throw caution to the wind and get married and have kids. While raising a family, she started Be Lovely and began working with awesome companies like St. Louis Magazine, The Missouri Botanical Gardens, St. Louis Art Museum, Monsanto, The Missouri History Museum, Epworth, Momentum, and other organizations, corporations, and non-profits. She also started working with several local photographers, and began to fall in love with documenting weddings, awesome events, families, kids, and babies. JJ currently has set her eyes on mountain climbing and traveling the world. Just kidding, her 3 kids and husband would be sad.
After living in the city for 20 years and building her business for the past 13, JJ and her family now reside in Webster Groves, Missouri, a mere 15 minutes from her old house but a world away from people who hate driving 15 minutes out of the city. She continues to work to build her business on making positive connections and personal experiences for all of her clients, which she hopes results in a lovely photographic experience. Wanna be lovely? You already are! Be Lovely Photography wants to help document and create lovely images to hang on your walls forever.
